I work as a C.N.A at an assisted living facility. I love my job. Not many people can say that and have it be true but I can. I really enjoy what I do. I get to help people and hear events of their lives. I love every single one of them because they make working fun and interesting. I get to come home with a new story to tell everyday. Just tonight I was helping one of my little greek ladies and she was telling me how she has been told all her life to eat. Eat, eat, eat they tell me she said. I would eat but my mother would tell me to eat. She thought I didn't eat because I have always been so skinny. She took me to the doctor to have him tell me to eat and he told her to leave me alone that I ate plenty and am healthy. She did not believe him. She wanted me to marry a doctor so that he could make me eat. I told her that no one can force anyone to do things. She is a very cute little lady. Her and another one of my residents who is also greek get together and they just start gabbing away in greek. In fact the other greek lady I am pretty sure thinks I am greek. Every time I help her she will all of a sudden start talking to me in greek like I know exactly what she is saying. It is moments like that that make me love my job. Another resident who has passed away would come up with the funniest things to say. When I first started my job I was the morning shower aide and my first encounter with this lady was to assist her with her shower. I remember helping her wash up in the shower and all a sudden having her tell me "Don't forget to get underneath my flappers." I was perplexed and she went on to say "There no longer called boobs when you're an old lady like me. There called flappers." From that day on she became one of my favorite people. I could go on and on about all of my experiences but I think I will end it for now.
I am glad you love your job and I am glad that you love your little old people!!
